In early 2013, an artist named Marcus created Bitcoin Roller Coaster Guy after seeing people describe Bitcoin's price movements as a roller coaster ride.

He shared the animated GIF on BrainlessTales, Bitcointalk, and Reddit, where it began spreading through the early Bitcoin community.

It became the very first crypto meme to exist and predates $DOGE, which launched in December 2013.
